Heart and Soul

Gaze that wanders to her pale skin,

Terrible thoughts of loving when I shouldn’t.

Wings of a cruel man, or a lover,

Wrapped up in the skin of a husband.

A bloody war of mind, such a sweet sight.

Broken hearts and a god to love.

A should-be, a shouldn’t,

To ruin, I couldn’t.

She would ruin me,

Yet I would hand her the knife.

The candle that burns eternal,

I would die a small death.

Her eyes, the color of a raging storm,

Searching for mine within this haunted chamber.

Her hair, the color of the Earth,

Swaying in Zephyr’s breeze as she stands on the cliff.

Her hands that pulled me from the Heavens,

Called out to me underneath the darkest skies.

A sight she shouldn’t see, a whisper in the dark,

Put your sweet lips on mine.

Hold me down,

Wait for me,

Keep me tethered,

I would fly to her soul.

My soul, my sweet wife,

A love so divine,

Curse me for loving,

Chain me for leaving.

Timeless stories of old, you and I,

Would be a Greek tragedy to behold.

But my heart would belong to you,

In your love and in your soul.
