Hear My Words!

We have by and by come so far

From a peoples of faraway land

To become a nation to hold.

Together,

We have built a home

In rural spaces and empty platforms.

From the hands of the people who fought,

The cries of mothers nursing their children

The sound of babes,

Longing to have a bed to sleep in.

Husbands working,

Their hands, rough.

Their eyes? Darkened.

Isn’t this survival?

Isn’t this how we stood together?

Did you just allow the dark to creep in?

Did you just allow your minds to be corrupted?

Did you just allow the glass to shatter?

Did you just allow your sons to shut their hearts?

I cry, Rape!! Rape!!

Hear My Words!

One more sound and the nation falls.

Hear My Words!

One more night before time stands still.

Hear My Words!

One more day before the bird calls.

Turn around and look!

Are we home yet? We are.
