Hear Me Roar

I have stopped apologising to the mirror

the woman staring back is becoming clearer

It has watched me change on a daily basis

one person carrying a million faces

The masks of survival have come to a fall

no longer will I make myself small

or try to fit in; let myself shrink

I don’t care what others think

The pieces of me I once considered broken

have let in the light and I have awoken

realising my true value, my own worth

I was placed for a reason upon this earth

Dear mirror, this woman that you now see,

This is indeed the real me

One that matters, a voice that deserves to be heard

The warrior within me once again stirred

capable and wanting so much more

no longer meowing – Now hear me ROAR.
