Haunted House
By Pragya Sharma
You made friends with the ghosts in my haunted house
Like you already knew you'd be staying longer than just a while
Cleaned the corners, dusted the closet
Hung new curtains, washed the laundry
You bought furniture I didn't know existed
Wrote your name beside mine by the front door
And just like magic, in my dark cold ghostly house
You were sipping warm tea resting on a cosy chair
You seemed content with all the flaws in the roof
Never complained when you were drenched in the rain or scorched by the sun
You loved to play peek-a-boo with your ghost housemates
You showed them all your magic tricks
Little did I know you were making allies and practicing witchcraft
You let loose of the ghosts I had spent my life trying to contain
You had already hid explosives all around the house
With just one flick of your fingers, you burnt it to the ground
You made friends with ghosts in my haunted house
Now ghosts run wild and there's no house
