Happy Children's Day !

By Ramyalakshmi K G

Dear parents, re- revise your fairytales, for tales aren’t just tales but decides the fate of your child!

It is always nice to instill imagination and hope into kids, but it is equally important to impart knowledge on the realities and bitterness of the world.

1. The world is no fairyland, and life won’t be a happily-ever-after

2. We don’t wait for our “Prince / princess charming swooping us away “ , because marriage is not the ultimate goal of life

3. Awakening kisses aren’t physical, but the kind deeds we do on a daily basis

4. Magical beans don’t grow into sky scrapping trees but wisdom does take you into sky high places

5. Beauty is just another adjective and skin color is for your mobile phones

Talk to your child the things you wanted to hear from your parents as a child. Give them the space to hop as far away from you, but give them the trust to hop back whenever they need you. Ignorance is surely a bliss, but knowledge is more powerful.

If a child can successfully commit suicide for witnessing things she shouldn’t at her age, why wasn’t she allowed to successfully communicate the things that bothered to her parents. After all we can’t put the whole blame on the society, because we are the lego blocks of the society that we are constructing for the future!

Choose your stories wisely on this children's day...
