Hakki (The Bird)

ನಿನಗುಂಟು ನಿನಿಗುಂಟು

ಜಡವಿಲ್ಲದಾ.. ದೇಹ

ಹಾರಾಡುವೆ ಹಾರಾಡುವೆ

ಆಗಸದಲಿ ತೀರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ ದಾಹ!

ನಿಲುಗಾಲೆರಡು ನಿರ್ಜಡ ದೇಹಕ್ಕೆ

ಕಂಗಳೆರಡು, ಎರಡು ರೆಕ್ಕೆ, ಮೇಲೊಂದು ಕೊಕ್ಕೆ

ನಿಲ್ಲಲ ವಿಷೇಶತೆ ಇಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ

ಹೇಳುವೆ ಕೇಳಿನ್ನೂ ಮುಂದಕ್ಕೆ!

ಪಕ್ಷಿ ಪಕ್ಷಿ

ಬಲು ತೀಕ್ಷ್ಣ ನಿನಕ್ಷಿ

ಗಾಳಿಯಲಿ ತೇಲಿಸಲು ರೆಕ್ಕೆ

ನಿರ್ಜಡ ದೇಹ ಸಹಾಯವದಕ್ಕೆ

ಹೆಕ್ಕಿ ತಿನ್ನಲು ಅಕ್ಕಿ

ಮುಂಚುನಿಯಲ್ಲಿಹುದು ಕೊಕ್ಕಿ

ಆದೆ ನೀ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ

ಆಗಸದಿ ಹಾರಲು ಜಾಣೆ

ನಿನ್ನ ನೋಡಿ, ನೋಡಿ

ಮಾನವ ಮಾಡಿದ ವಿಮಾನವೆಂಬ ಮೋಡಿ

ಅನ್ನದಾತನ ಕೂಡಿ

ಆಯ್ದೆ ನೀ ಹುಳು ಕೀಡಿ

ಕೂಡಿಸಿ ಕಾಳುಕಡಿ

ಹೊತ್ತಿತು ಒಲೆಯಾ.. ಕುಡಿ!

ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಕುಲ

ಮಾನವರಿಗೆ ಸದಾನೂಕೂಲ

ಮಾನವನ ಕಾರ್ಯದಿ

ಆಗುತಿಹುದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಮಾಧಿ

ಕಾಣಲೇ ಬೇಕಿದೆ ಕೊನೆ

ಅದುವೇ ಮಾನವನಾ ಹೊಣೆ

I feel it is very difficult to translate the emotions and feeling from the very rich native experiences and the use of language. Hence, here I have give a brief about the poe in following text.

This poem is about the bird. Here its appearance, specialities, features, how it is helpful to humankind and how human has made aeroplanes by taking the inspiration from the bird etc. have been explained poetically. The poet says the end of the bird’s life is the end of the humankind. To avoid such bad insedents human has to take the responsibility of saving, serving even to the birds.
