Grounds Of Your Eyes
By Seethalekshmi Kishore
I wonder, don’t you know for the weak hearted
your sight searching to know about the turbid
ones like me are enough
Don’t you know for the turbid ones like me
a second lingering in the cloudy murk of the smoke
filled grounds of your eyes is enough
these things-strap around my heart like chains
chains, I can no longer process whether ‘tis to hold me up
or ‘tis to weigh me down, anchor me down to deep floors
of the ocean with the tranquil currents living-
because of a thrust - invisible in appearance
ready to be removed of the reigning throne
with your awaited arrival;
due to the sinking of your ship
the one you so proudly hold sway over,
but I sense it
your sway slighting swaying away as your
hands, eyes and you inch towards me
