Green Velvet

Plant a tree,

What will you get?

Just a whole new world

With parity in its septet.

Fire, Adam’s ale and murk,

Intellect, welkin and soul

Are just as partial

Without Earth to make it whole.

Nature’s a dead soul

As the chart declines,

The axe on the wood

And barbarism combines.

Using paper from timber

To write ‘Save Trees’,

Is it not funny?

To ask fire to freeze.

A tree’s not just a flag

But a home on the whole,

A beauty to the essence,

A shelter for a stroll.

Plant a tree,

What will you get?

Just a say of gratitude

From the earth, for the green velvet.
