In the fading dust of relationships past,

When faith dwindled in the prospect of love and men,

I left them abandoned in the backseat outcast,

Stone dead heart I drove ahead then.

In the blithe reprieve from messy college romance,

He walked into the scene with seemingly casual flair.

We started to spin together in the age-old cosmic dance.

I was powerless to resist the forces that were destined.

In our world, he and I could never be together,

the odds were a slim to none, it was not to be, never.

It didn’t stop us from embarking the grandest journey,

His gravity of love altered my life irrevocably.

Before him, I was the moon with no light of my own.

Waiting ever impatient for the glow of love to illuminate.

When he entered my life, he became my center; the sun.

His light pulled me out of the shadows and I began to shine.

He was so bright he scorched me with his brand,

Melted my insides, thawing my icy reserve for men.

Warming me to the core, made me reconsider and,

Swallowed my insecurities, gave me reasons to amend.

Drawn by his magnetic pull I was yanked into his orbit,

The space between his heart and mine, filled with quietude.

Gift of the universe I accept with grace and gratitude.

I revolve, whirring quietly in the gravity of love.
