Grandparents

Weekends were simpler,
mixed with a moral lesson or two.
Saturday noon, packing one apparel for travel,
and one for slumber.
Entering the shrine, vibes of positivity,
the way Grandma and Grandpa maintained the house.
Grandma always cooked the delicious tomato curry,
for soaking the bread and squeezing in the mouth.
While Grandpa asked the healthy menu for the next morning,
Grandma asked us to re-fill our plates with more food.
Over nightfall, after a little prayer, Grandpa had his one moral story,
as against Grandma speaking a million experiences in a language, I tried decoding.
I too must have dwelled into explaining her preteen hood fights,
till date unaware if she understood it.
Me and my sister woke up somehow early in the good home,
with Grandpa making us run in the kitchen to check the lovely junk for breakfast!
While cleaning the utensils we made fun of Grandpa,
making him run around the house and Grandma taking her routine pills.
Nothing beat my grandma’s dal chawal and achar,
with Grandpa telling us to not drop food down and
how me must never waste food.
We made some drawings and made Grandpa laugh with our craziness,
and used Grandma's consistent bindis, powder and comb to get ready for evening walks.
To those days, to those evenings, to those moments, to those experiences,
I join my hands in respect,
forming in future an excerpt from a luxurious time.
