Glass Ceiling

Updated: Jul 30

With what thought

Did you place that ceiling,

Transparent and glass,

Over our heads?

Did you just think

That it was amusing

To tease us with the sky

And yet put a roof to our limits?

Did you not pause

And consider this more,

That as you stepped on that glass pane,

We were minding your shadows?

The glass was a big mistake,

Cause it's fragile and can break,

And even if we get cuts in the process,

The wounds will never stay.

And when the ceiling breaks,

Remember that it once was your floor,

And as the Sky opens up for us,

Your feet would in return be grounded.

That was how it was intended for us,

You and we, together that is,

That we share the one sky and the Earth,

And there is no separation by a glass ceiling.
