Gimme God

Gimme God.

Take my gifts and my possessions, gimme God.

Take the planets and the heavens, gimme God.

Take my wealth and my profession, gimme God-just gimme God.

Gimme God.

Take my gifts and my possessions, gimme God.

Take the planets and the heavens, gimme God.

Take my wealth and my profession, gimme God-just gimme God.

Gimme God.

And maybe I could give you Him,

Show you that this song I made is more than just a hymn.

It’s self-awareness that He’s always around,

And He’s the key to the shackles keeping humanity bound.

This ain’t a sound; this is a wanting for the truth.

Holy Spirit in the studio, it’s haunting in the booth; I’m aloof.

I need more than a feeling,

I need someone to tell me that if there’s sickness, there’s a healing.

No more dealing

With the weight of our iniquity.

Doing what I do, I’m quite surprised that He still stick with me. It’s up;

I don’t see it coming down,

And it’s the reason why these thoughts are running ‘round. I’m a clown

For tryna do this on my own.

Looking down from there, I’m probably looking clueless on this phone.

God, I’m sorry.

I say it, but do I really mean it?

The mess in my soul-God, I wonder why You’d clean it.

“Have faith,” You told me,

But do I really have it?

The way that I’ve been thinking started turning to a habit.

What’s a rabbit to hopping in and out of conclusions?

We must accept that we can’t live in our delusions.

I’m a fool,

Or am I not supposed to say it?

Music from the heart of me; I’m not opposed to play it. I was

Hanging onto every word that I’ve written,

But what’s the point of it if every single secret is hidden?

Something’s wrong.

Don’t know how to make it right.

He said His yoke is easy, but I don’t take it light.

Need light; can’t see when you’re living in the dark.

The waters get deep when you’re swimming with the sharks.

Ice cold, dice rolled, but it ended on a loss.

How much grace have I received to be befriended on a cross?

The answer’s inconceivable.

I can’t describe it in a way that sounds believable.

I’m tired

Of trying to make sense of the situation,

Perspective on why I’m living, suspense in the conversation.

The revelation I’ve been given makes it hard for me to-

The weight of what I’m feeling doesn’t ever seem to leave.

I listened to Hulvey’s album; the Spirit was speaking through him.

He questioned my commitment and asked if I even knew Him. I knew

I felt His presence on the track.

It reminded me He sees me and He’s with me where I’m at, where I’m not,

What I’m not, what I got,

What’ll come back to bite me because of something I forgot.

Got God, but what’s better is to know He’s got me.

One day I’ll be home sweet home, no Mötley.

God, I used to want it all before You,

When I could only score one goal, You’d score two.

More to

Than all this rhythm and poetry,

More to You than just a someone in the prism of knowing me.

Knowingly, I let the seed of You continually grow in me,

Hoping we could catch a breath from what’s continually choking me.

“Breathe”-that’s what You tell me to do.

With every lie I’ve been believing, You still tell me the truth.

God, gimme You,

And take the obstacle away.

It’s not a game if it’s impossible to play.

Stay true, make do; I’m afraid to face You,

Not just because of what I did, but because of what I failed to.

Nothing ever came close to You.

The only time I’ll ever boast is a toast to truth,

To love, to how He took my shame,

How He was comfort when people would overlook my pain.

The name Jesus Christ is above all names.

Just because it burns doesn’t mean that You can’t love all flames.

It’s funny-

Why’d you worry knowing God is involved?

From His perspective, there’s a problem that’s already resolved. It’s solved,

And there’s no need to figure out

What He’ll tell me when He sees me if I took a quicker route. I doubt

I’m more assured of how I’m sure of my uncertainty.

We live for Someone perfect even though we live imperfectly.

We run because He walked; yeah, we live because He died.

Creator or creation-we’re required to decide.

Make a choice, take a knee, take a stand, take a hit.

You could take away the palace; You could leave me in a pit.
