Ghost Town

Stuck in times long past

Unchanging, unmoving, forever Loneliness to last

While others come and go

Memories of ages past my only company

Echoes of life, a fading symphony

Others have moved on long ago

So

why

can’t

I ?

One place, forever my home

Alone, in my own little dome

People have gone. No one is left

For so long have I not known company, of warmth leaving me bereft

Dwelling in forgotten shadows in this ghost town

For warmth, for affection, must I cede my crown?

Left to face all the ages of the world on my own

This kingdom of mine, heart long turned to dust, carved of bone.

Solitude, my only friend

Soon, as people are wont to do, I must face my end.

Fading away from echoes of memory that made me whole

As I bid farewell to the remnants of my soul.
