Geological Reminescence

Updated: Jul 28

I go back to history

Unwinding the mystery

Series of event in action

Caused a great impaction.

I wonder how we evolved,

And then my question was resolved.

Events stacked up in consecutive order

Which makes me ponder.

Emphasized with eons, eras, periods,

Epoch And what more?

Began with eons,

Named after a Greek god evolved: Hadean

Ancient bodies ruled, thus called Archaean.

Pre-eminent creatures existed, therefore the birth of Proterozoic

Life was conspicuous, hence rose Phanerozoic.

Phanerozoic Eon diverged into eras,

The Palaeozoic, Mesozoic, Cenozoic.

Again, branched into periods

Ah! It’s complicated Nereus!

Gratifying invertebrates found in Cambrian

Squishy Pisces swam the Ordovician.

Apex sea predators dominated the Devonian

Horrid plants covered the Silurian.

Coal filled Mississippian

The era reminds a state Pennsylvanian

Last but not the least the Permian.

Rise of the “Golden age of Dinosaurs”

Greatest of all carnivores.

Clever reptiles walked into Triassic,

Allosaur took the throne of Jurassic.

T-rex being predaceous,

Born during Cretaceous.

Ended with K-T EXTINCTION,

But likely it was EVOLUTION.

Here comes the scene

“Age of mammals” the Paleogene.

Formidable sharks swirl the Palaeocene,

Our ancestors dwelled the Eocene.

Cats and dogs wagging tails during Oligocene,

And we breathed in the course of Neocene.

Humid climate “The Ice Age”

Which is Quaternary.

Finally, the Holocene:

Advent of the industry

Existence of human history.

Inception of the SIXTH EXTINCTION,

Paves the way for another EVOLUTION.
