Gekrys van die Visarend

Deur: Jane Brikos

Ek het vandag weer ’n visarend gehoor,

Sy stem het soos ’n gebed oor die lug geskeur-

Ver,

Hartseer,

Nie om gehoor te word nie,

Maar omdat hy móét roep.

Hy was ver.

Hy was seer.

En dit het my eensaam laat voel

Soos nog nooit tevore nie.

Bo die geraas van motors en mense,

Bo die skerp klanke van lewens wat aanstap,

Het hy gesweef-

Stil en seker,

’n Skaduwee op die wind,

Wat kyk hoe die wêreld onder hom verbysnel.

Hy was ver.

Hy was seer.

En dit het my eensaam laat voel

Soos nog nooit tevore nie.

Hy het water gesoek.

Soos ek na stilte soek.

Soos my siel na doel soek

In die droë plekke.

Sy vlerke het vryheid geken,

Maar sy roep het verlange gedra.

Myne ook.

En al het ek met my voete op die grond gestaan,

Het ek die leë hemel in my bors gevoel,

Wyd en eggoend-

Wat wag

Om gevul te word.
