Future Set in Stone

You and me

Under the open sky,

Stargazing seemed like a nice way

To pass the time by

I connect the dots

And I swear I could see

Our future

And a goodbye it was to be

But I shake the thought away

And shift my attention to you

Your brown eyes shimmer,

Under the moonlight,

You have a certain peace in them

Like at this moment, we have the spotlight

My thoughts wander

Back to the stars above us

And I think to myself,

If people say

The future is written in stone

All we have to do

Is find a rock of our own;

And with that reassuring thought,

We doze off under the starlight

Hanging onto the new hope

The moon brought.
