FROM THE HOSPITAL BED

The small rectangular frame of the sky

Visible from the hospital bed, my address for months,

Where the clouds come and go

To play with colors of the setting sun in the evening,

Where in the seasons of rain

Slate colored sadness wipes out signs of happiness,

Where a nasty fog hovers in winter

To cover the hurried birds flying in search of food,

Is the depository of all my emotions.

It is the only listener to my random thoughts and silent talks.

I know surely that I shall never go back

To my sweet home that I built

With my lifelong hard toil, utmost care, huge time and wealth,

Where all the bricks carry my sorrow and joy,

Memories, love and emotion, kiss of sweet heart, hugging of child,

Where the plants of rear garden

Spreading eager leaves daily await me, miss my caring hand,

Where a well knit life full of comfort

Offered shelter from dazzling sun, turbulent storm and violent rain,

Nights provided me with peaceful sleep.

Although nobody conveys me clear,

I read from the face of the anxious friends and the serious doctors

That my days are numbered and I won’t recover.

They all wipe their tears behind me,

But they don’t know that I have already packed my bag

Leaving the things that I collected so far,

To start my new journey quite alone to an unknown land

That beckons me with each ticking of clock,

To knock at the closed door in front of me, not knowing

What an unknown surprise waits behind it.

Oh my loving kin, I know you will lament,

Gorgeous mountains will send echoes of your sobbing cry,

You will pray together not to let me to go,

The sound will reverberate in the forest trees and clouds.

But this eternal truth you all knew for sure,

That a few years called life between arrival and departure

Cannot resist me from receiving call from infinite,

The footprints on the shy grasses of garden will remain there,

In moonlit night tunes will play to amuse as usual,

Wealth and fame, money and house, all will stay, but I have to leave.
