Friends
By Ranjana Gorakhnath Tidke
To my freinds I feel gracious
Who stick with us
(For various reasons)
You don't really select them
In fact you get selected from the crowd
There are many varieties
Some are sporties
(Mostly found in dozens)
They use you to put the blame
When the gangster guy has fouled
Some are mysteries...
Their raised eyebrows greets
(Seen only in particular seasons)
Like exams, festivals; not really tame
Not very social, not so proud
Then there are these scholarlies
Who know the worth of the paid fees
(Filled with so many questions)
They may even forget your name
Knowledge and books is all they care about
Then we have the gossipers
Don't fall for their polite "thank you" and "please"
But they are the ones
Who light the flame
And keep the conversation spicy and hot
Above all, few are dangerous
They are not moved by your tantrums or fuss
They accept you with your imperfections
They help you sort your problem
They guide, appreciate and never doubt.
So friends are the makers
They convert you into characters
Holding a fathoming furious gun
They are the topaz, they are the gems
You should preserve and sought
