Friends
By Ann K George
I’m the happiest myself among those gracious souls,
who’s mighty enough to bear all my inane conducts.
From laughing at my bleak jokes to wiping off my tears,
and granting me guidance in realising my life’s goals.
Nobody could discern my words before I speak,
yet they could perceive them all with their intuitions.
Hiding my darkest secrets, for them is not any strenuous,
and mocking me at any instinct is their only mystique.
Insipid shall this world be devoid of their presence,
and all hues be faint had they not taken their being.
I’d not be myself if they had not been beside.
They are my shield of love and my only defence.
All vices are shoved away by their profound care,
and all dubious deeds dissipate as they come by.
Friends are for humans a blessing in disguise,
as they would hold us afar from any fierce snare.
