Fragments

Just a moment ago we both were together

And I thought that it would last forever.

Then a storm struck and we drifted apart-

Though not by choice but compulsion

With nothing to understand or to express,

I keep gazing at your lifeless body.

I am left with nothing but fragments:

Fragments of the past and recollections of the times that we spent together.

How I wish that it could last forever!

Now no matter how much I try,

I will not be able to get over this.

I can run away from you

But not from those memories

And the harsh truth and the bitter reality.

Now there is nothing that can be said or done

Because everything is over and this loss is not undone.

I am left with nothing but fragments-

Fragments of the past,

Fragments of those memories,

Fragments of our friendship

And fragments of the moments spent together.

I wish I could collect these fragments,

Join them and put them up together again

To unburden my heart and diminish my pain.

Whatever it is, I will always have at least these fragments-

Fragments of those moments deep within my heart.

How I wish that they could last forever!

How I wish that we could live together forever!

But I know we will always be together in my heart.
