Forfeited Sunshine

By Aashita Pandey

The land is trembling,

As the sky drips.

The fire weeps and dies,

And the breeze trips.

The flowers and blossoms wilt,

And the fruits have fell.

The trees and plants tilt,

And slowly dries the well.

You are my sunshine,

She sings as she cradles.

My only sunshine,

The infant coos as he becomes unable.

The colour fades away,

From the toddler’s cheek.

The scarlet blood begins,

To appear and then leak.

A gust of wind,

And then the sound of silence.

A chill of a scream,

What could be felt ,absence.

The earth cries and disassembles,

As the mother weeps and the branches sway.

As they both now had,

Their sunshine taken away.
