Forever And Always
By Neelima Chakraborty
Don’t fall in love with a fleeting moment, they say.
Born in the of kernel of ephemeral,
Its warmth is cold on the skin, immaterial, they say.
But the poor heart falls head over heels,
tumbling into the abyss,
reliving the myth of Sisyphus,
at one look…the liquid eyes of a longing gaze…
The gaze I feel no more on my face.
Everything burns up in smoke,
withers, disappears, without a trace,
Chokes the insides with vestiges of memories.
But you live in my smile, my tears, my dreams.
You live in my searching gaze
each time I step out in the sun,
You live in the folds of my skin,
in my fragrance, in the syllables, in the ink of my pen.
You are gone, my darling,
Gone but not forgotten.
