For A Dream

People make a kill, people die for a dream

You didn’t even live enough to cry for a dream

I’m biting with my grief on my cold, blue neck

For that’s when I missed you, and you ran wild into death.

Had you let me intervene

With the demon on the scene

I would have given all existing

For you to retain your Spring.

But you said the fight was yours, you against you

The war belonged to you, its spoils to you

The nicks and burns, all the blood and the blue

It’d never be over until the crown’s on you.
