Footprints in the Sand

Barren

A sea of unformed glass

Unknown fragments of history,

Burning

The blazing light from above

highlights the path once taken.

Bursting

Pieces of shattered rock

lifelessly scattered in random places

Yearning

Lesions on my throat

wishing for what it no longer has

Turning,

The slight breeze not lacking heat

spins the sand for a moment.

Timing.

It catches my eye showing

the marks left behind.

Reviving

A seedling of hope

replanted within me

A sense of another presence besides me

A soul was just here before me…

Sudden.

My loneliness strikes me down

with the disappearing marks.

Nothing.

I continue on the path once taken.

Barren.
