Have you ever thought of the little glowing ones?

Beating back the darkness with all their might?

I scoff at them, "It is not worth the fight!

Shame, fireflies are not my friends.

Have you ever seen them dance in unison?

As if to say, “We are harmony as harmony should be."

I brush it aside soon, “Come down from your mighty tree

No, fireflies are not my friends.

,

Have you ever seen them twinkle?

One off and one on, acting like wannabe stars

I laugh at them, "Now now, stop all the farce

It’s true; fireflies can never be my friends.

Oh, but have you ever seen them go dark at once

As if to show you, this is what darkness smells like,

Strangely, I am afraid then, my heart rates spike,

Would it be too bad if we were friends? ..
