Pencils, colours and brushes….

Lost to Pens, Numbers and Targets….

Mankind’s grey overtakes the nature’s green,

I lose the battles with a mosquito,

But I still believe I can be in Champion’s team.

When I was a kid, unknown even to holding a pencil,

An angel landed me into painting class,

I loved the angel very much, with all my heart.

She knew my heaven was in her arms,

And I worshipped the God in her heart.

I used to sit at the door and she, just outside it,

I would never let her leave beyond my ambit

After first 90 days of my crying stardom,

I finally, made friends with Pencils, Colours and the Brushes….

My first friendship…

Eventually I fell in love with this friend,

Even got married and vowed to stay forever!

Till then I had no idea of the existence of the word “DIVORCE”

Years went by; my angel strived hard to teach me to how live in the “Real” world.

And as I grew further my friend list became longer and longer -

I shared my love with everyone….

My angel then taught me the term “FINANCIAL CONDITION”.

After all, it always had to be sufficient.

She was not being greedy, but she knew,

What it was to be hungry and still sleep soundly on an empty stomach.

So I made changes, or the changes made me,

I encountered all my ghosts,

Disciplined my brain and made laurels with Pens, Numbers and Targets…

I realized that dreams came at cost,

Sometimes of Life and other times of the Soul.

I ended with same year without my first friend –

The Pencils, Colours and the Brushes….

It hit me like a thunder and moved the earth beneath.

It is hard to be happy to do what to do just to be financially secure only in order to get back

“SOMEDAY” and start living your Dream….

Everything everyday tends to ask you a question –

What if you died today?

What if step out of your office,

Get hit by a car and die….

Just like that.

I sensed I had licensed my death without having any insurance to cover it.

I met people, I talked, did their help,

Was there whenever asked or needed…

A kind, loving, caring, helping….

What a great friend I was….!!!!

Then a storm hit me! I needed help,

Nobody showed, I found no one but only my angel beside me,

I experienced what bliss was like and felt blessed to have her.

But inside my mind a voice kept saying,

”Take the elixir of the art you have, it is what you were made for….Remember?

Art is neither finished nor forgotten,

It is only abandoned.

Lost in dungeons and found in the mountains….”

Even in the darkest of the dark room

Even the hint of the light will shine like a Star

It is in this the hope of the lost train,

You are waiting for?

I woke up thought orange, red, crimson and blue…aa…

I had forgotten the names of my beloved colours…

My lips went dry, my heart went hollow,

I threw away my pillow and cried down in sorrow.

After all I had achieved –

The laurels, the goals, the sleepless nights towards moneymaking smiles…

I yelled and my angel appeared,

With all the proud moments I had left her as gifts.

She brought them in a bucket and showered me with its grace.

I tried to stabilize but I could not.

How could I?

My love was lost and it was me who was at fault!

I knocked the door of my painting teacher,

She had stopped taking the classes,

I begged for her help,

I want to find my love and stop making further losses.

I let the material world override my inner strength,

Having me with the illusions of my possessions and the little fame.

‘Be happy with what you have’, they say.

But what I had was abandoned

And what I had received was lauded.

In this decorated vanities of the world

My mind was battling with me doing everything

To secure my future at the expense of my present.

That meant, I was long dead,

I was just a ghost with some energy to pretend.

Brushes were my love,

Colours, my existence.

Art Goddess had gifted my pencils by birth,

I had to be reborn again.

It was the lost time I needed to avenge

I became friends with the Pencils, Colours and the Brushes again…

I gave them room in my world

And even a closet to keep their things.

I received bliss by doing what I was meant to do,

It added a meaning to my life,

And a legacy that was due.

And now, every night the voice in my mind whispers,

“Pens, Numbers and Targets lost to Pencils, Colours and the Brushes…”
