Feet- Heart

A little young lad bare-footed was he

Shivering with cold, his feet in a sad spree

Peering through the window of a large shoe store

He prayed for a pair of God’s own shoes.

A lady passed by with a curious eye

She stared at his feet to weep in deep sigh

She probed him a bit, “Why those eyes on the window?”

Swift was his reply, “A pair of any shoes, or I’ll die.”

The lady was kind and took him by his hand

Inside the store to find shoes, oh! the boy was glad

She bought him a dozen of socks and a pair

Of shoes that freed the lad from despair.

She asked the storekeeper for a basin and a towel

The lad was astonished, gazing at the lady in awe

She washed his little feet and dried them a bit

Placed the socks on his feet and the shoe saw fit.

She patted his head with her question in love;

“My little fellow, are you comfortable now?”

The lad held her hands to feel her gentlest deed

Those hands that cared, for his unknown feet

Tears rolled his eyes to see his feet kept secure

Kissed the lady’s hands and said, “You’re God’s wife for sure”.
