Fearful Senses
By Yaso Manaswini
A fear of pain, a fear of life,
A fear of shame, a fear of strife.
A fear so bright that forced me to see,
A path beyond dread that’d be my destiny.
A fear of death, a fear of loss,
A fear of despair sans a valid cause.
A fear so loud that forced me to hear,
A sound of hope that’d wipe away my tear.
A fear of grief, a fear of falls
A fear of lonely and darkened halls,
A fear so foul that forced me to smell,
A fragrance of trust that’d comfort me well.
A fear of want, a fear of defeat,
A fear of smiles that come with deceit,
A fear so bitter that forced me to taste,
A sweetness of faith that’d never lay waste.
A fear of greed, a greed of stealth,
A fear of sickness that’d deprive of health,
A fear so coarse that forced me to touch,
A fabric of love that I’d forever clutch.
