My people are trying to make something of me,

They’re carefully choosing disguises,

A new kind of gun is what they think I’ll need,

I thought they must know what this life is.

Son when you are in need just look up and believe,

You’ll need a religion and you shall receive;

When they told me we live on a planet that spins,

I wondered which way to look up and begin.

We don’t go around saying what is real, simply because we feel,

Here we have guns and shields and metaphors.

And we don’t go and work towards peace in this time of war,

Because we’re intelligent and it is unpopular.

How do we decide that lives can be sacrificed to pay the price of war?

If war is our solution why don’t we go and fight

and then go and kill some more?

Where’s the freedom that we want

which we are in far too many talks about?

If we have to decide to like or else dislike

what we can be without!

One of these days we’ll all at some point be in a place

where we will take one last breath in the world.

Tomorrow has not yet arrived and the past isn’t here for me to live

so what do I follow and achieve and not be at fault?
