Father
By Ann K George
He is that someone who’d gone through all the stress,
to keep us firm in our being and afar from all distress.
He’s worked vigorously through all day and all night,
to give us a roof o’er our head and burn our life’s light.
All the strenuous obligations of ours for himself he’d kept,
with a smile enhanced on his face, though he’d have wept.
He’d given up all his desires to keep us upright in our life,
and had posed as a protector to his children and his wife.
He’d flew to places farther off to earn us our daily bread,
though he’d famished and had no place to repose his head.
Through all the sorrows he’d have gone to keep us cheerful,
yet he hadn’t let us discern that through all this he was tearful.
It’d been his struggle that’d taken us to life’s steep heights,
being a warrior in the battle front who conquered all fights.
A father’s love is inimitable, which keeps our souls aglow.
He’s his daughter’s first love and his son’s only found hero.
