Family- The Chosen Friends

I once knew of a girl, who did not have any friends,

For she was lacking in knowledge, and elegance.

While her peers kept to the latest trends,

The girl on the other hand, had also lacked in brilliance.

Though great in academics,

Though disciplined, and known for subtlety,

There were so many critics,

Whom never learnt of her in entirety.

While always lonely,

Always in confusion,

Her parents once told her wisely:

“Be yourself dear. Be your best version.”

With much motivation,

With much endurance,

While belonging to the present generation,

That never gives up on their stance;

Choosing friends that become like family,

Invariably,

Family became her chosen friends.
