Fallen Heart.
By Yukti Bhatnagar
I was left standing
in the middle of a raging road,
of my mind,
left to deal with the horns of blasted past
blaring loud in my ears;
overloaded trucks of damned thoughts
burring pot holes on my skin,
and suffering fatal accidents
by speeding cars of trauma,
every single day.
I was left drowning
in the middle of the ocean,
of my feelings,
gasping on the salty air
of all the leaden defeats;
Flailing in the turbulent waves
of your sweet deceit,
and surrounded by blood thirsty
sharks and piranhas
preying on bits of our yesteryears.
I was left burning alive
in the middle of the pyre
of my broken heart,
standing still as the acid of your lies
skinned my burning flesh.
Your laugh poured pure gasoline
on my blistering self,
and your eyes, warm and content now,
drawing daggers deep
into my already fallen heart.
I was left abandoned in the middle
of the home I built for you,
fending off the shards of glass
left behind in your wake.
Surviving on the scraps of love
you'd throw, once in a while, my way
and quench my thirst
with the tears of your betrayal.
I was left living in pieces
while you left in peace.
