Faith
By Jash Doshi
How wonderfully awful faith is,
Empowers, emboldens but enslaves too,
Like the site of shore for a castaway,
Drives you on an additional mile,
Or the ray of hope to a man dying,
Gifts often an extra smile..
Like a mirage in the desert smoldering,
Leads you on like the Piper pied..
How awfully wonderful faith is,
Like the trust that goes beyond the truth,
Or hope that persists beyond reality,
Like searching shadows bereft of light,
Or trying to walk roads that exist not..
Faith is the freedom that enslaves,
Blesses and then bleeds,
elevates and then ensnares...
How woefully awful we are,
Crippled with it, crippled without,
Faith breaks, but we breathe it too,
Like the fire that burns, but gives us light,
Water that drowns but quenches our thirst,
An elixir poisoned, a joy dystopian,
Faith is a toy that we leave not,
It's a rot that ripens our lot
