Fading Memories
By Syed Mohammad Ismail Quli
In the hazy glow of memory's light,
I revisit the days of our past delight,
When love was a flame that burned so bright,
And the world was a canvas of endless sight.
But now those days are forever gone,
Leaving me with a bittersweet song,
Of a love that was right but ended wrong,
And a heart that aches for what was once strong.
I wander through the streets of our past,
Where our love was born and grew so fast,
And I feel the weight of time's cruel grasp,
As the moments slip away and become the last.
The laughter, the tears, the hopes and fears,
All now memories that time endears,
But as I look back through the mist of years,
I realize that those moments are now in arrears.
Oh, how I long to relive those days,
When our love was young and free from frays,
But now the past is set in its ways,
And those memories are forever out of phase.
So, I'll cherish those moments forevermore,
And keep them safe in my heart's core,
For though those memories will never restore,
Their bittersweetness I'll always adore.
