Emotions. What are emotions? We have names for emotions. Happiness ,sorrow, anger, etc. but can these words really explain feelings? Everyone has emotions. God has given us, humans, the ability to express what we feel, in the form of words. We often take this for granted. We consider being emotional, as a weakness for an individual. Ever wondered why? We associate emotions with vulnerability. And hence it is stigmatized. Emotions are a very natural, human quality.
As a part of today’s youth, I very strongly relate to the pressure that is being put on students nowadays. Pressure from parents, teachers, and the fear of being judged by people and friends, is leading teens and young kids towards the problems like low self esteem , low self confidence, anxiety, which come from having to live up to people and also having to prove yourself constantly. Because of not having people to share their feelings with, to express their thoughts and emotions, people end up suppressing their emotions, which then leads to occasional outbursts. It is like a bottle, you fill some water every time you suppress your emotions, and one day, it overflows.
Expressing emotions can be very tough sometimes. But there are healthy ways of dealing with them. The first step towards being emotionally strong, is accepting your emotions. Once you know what you are feeling, you accept it and eventually learn hoqw to deal with it.
