Evolution of Life - Trilobites

Trilobites were we,

Lobes we had three,

Numerous were we,

Home we called the sea.

With sizes many,

Our movements vary.

In our soul we carry,

Our role in cosmic duty.

We can be crawlers

We can be swimmers

Inspired by the big dipper

We could be big diggers.

We could curl

We could coil

We could roll

We were no soil.

We hear you whisper

Ate what, you wonder

Food on the ocean floor

Cos we were detrivore.

Minerals in the ocean

Coated us in fusion

Causing us to be exoskeleton

Creating a layer of chiton.

Fossils of us simpletons

Owes to minerals thanks in tons

For exploring us beyond extinction

To understand our evolution.

No precedents

No descendants

Yet we belong to a pod

Famously called arthropod

They can be seen

When it’s Halloween.

Eons ago we bid adieu

Though we were a huge crew

To this earth stay true

Else you will be with us too.
