Every Other Day.

I missed you today,

I laughed, I read, I lived.

But you were on my mind,

Today, and every other day.

I remembered you today,

The rides on your maroon scooter,

How I held you tight,

All I wish is that I’d held you longer, tighter,

As though love alone could’ve bent the wind,

Stopped the clock.

I spoke of you today,

Your smile, your embrace,

The fleeting brush of your kiss,

I used past tense,

I never thought the word ‘was’ would haunt me so.

I wanted to see you today,

Flipped through pictures, heard your voice,

Wanting to feel you still,

I plead with the night,

For a sign, a dream.

I long for you,

Yesterday, today, tomorrow,

In every breath,

And every other day.
