Equality Of The Sexes

Was it a mistake to be a girl

In this world where boys are treated as pearls

I'm often told to sit still like a toy

Just because I'm not a boy

I want to know where this came into play

Where guys and girls are treated a certain way

We have been taught since a young age on how to think

Boys are blue and girls are pink

In this world where women lack education

Just because they ‘apparently’ belong in the kitchen

In this world where my period is a taboo

Why are girls even born

If they wanted the boy to be you

But it's not only girls that have this to go through

Because boys have their own problems to pursue

Where when boys cry, they are weak because expressing emotions is feminine

Where when a boy wears a skirt, is not masculine

Where a boy wearing makeup is scandalous

I could go on and on forever

But in short, being anything like a girl is atrocious

I wonder why doing anything like a girl is an insult

Whereas acting like a man is considered as a good result

Next in line are the transgender people who have it tough

Society's behaviour towards them is quite rough

Everyone telling it to their face

“ Stop overreacting. It's just a phase!”

Because being a transgender ‘ostensibly’ mean's being someone they are not

And this is something society is trying to boycott

To each their own

Girls, boys or transgender

We all deserve equal rights

We all deserve education

We all deserve equal pay for equal work

But what I often loathe

Is that we can't have equal opportunities in this society

Amongst ourselves for growth
