Encouraging Innovations in Bharat

The student community has become increasingly aware of the paramount need for higher education in the recent past. To achieve the goal of achieving higher education, they are working hard to take part in common examinations like NEET so that they can choose their desired study group, such as science, engineering, or medicine, according to their interests and abilities, with the guidance of parents and teaching teams. This welcome move helps not only the students to achieve higher education but also contributes to the growth and modernization of the nation as a whole. This also paves the way for entry into research and innovation after the students achieve the needed level of higher education.

For a country like Bharat, education enhances the chances of the nation to confidently compete with other developed countries globally in many ways. A student is a future nation builder, and the dynamic government at the center has time and again expressed its desire to support their welfare and improvement through legislation.

Our government has already taken measures to achieve excellence in education through established elite educational institutions like IITs, IISc, R&D centers, ICAR, etc., which are run with the help of highly experienced personnel properly guide and train aspiring students for higher education, research, and innovation.

Innovation is very important and essential for a nation’s progress and the overall increase in the wealth of a nation and its people. The creative thinking power of Indian students and their aim to achieve something novel has been increasing over the past decades. But, the successes which Indian students achieve for foreign corporates should also be possible here in India, if suitable conditions are created for them to serve Indian companies.

Of course, there is a practice of granting financial support to institutions by Indian industries and corporates to meet the needs of research, etc. However, this funding may not be sufficient and may be reaching only a limited number of students. Moreover, this funding may not be tied to actual results, in terms of products or patents. With a view to streamline the system and ensure adequate financial support, apart from the usual practice of funding by industries, the government may consider options for providing increased financial support, which are tied to actual innovations and patents for creating new products from India.

Our government may kindly consider for new legislation requiring Indian owned industries to set up strongly funded dedicated research wings in their respective areas of business to support and motivate research students to undertake innovations and come up with world class products. If one company cannot cover the needed funds, the government may consider involving a group of companies in one product area to pool their resources.

It is high time that Indian companies do not just produce products using the design and patents of other developed nations, but come up with our own new ideas and turn them into world class products. A visionary legislation from our government followed by patriotic investment by large Indian companies will help the entire younger generation to build the nation that we all currently dream of.
