Empty Bottle In The Sea

Ships sail by to an empty shore,

Shore's where they would rather be;

Who was I but a night before,

Now an empty bottle in the sea.

Didn't I have those fated words!

Conferred upon just me to share;

Found for once in a treacherous dive,

Read to wayfaring waves who care.

Was I secrets to a bleeding pen,

Left on pages scrolled so tight;

Capped loose inside a naked frame,

For light and wind to erase a plight.

Or was I wind, giving sails a flare,

Them that knew their currents to seek;

Stood still to rest in a moment spare,

Trapped aloof for storms to meek.

Do I wait for the ascending stars!

Or take all in to sink and flee?

To be anyone at all in moving parts,

But an empty bottle in the sea.
