Ek is …

Ek is jou ewige lawaai in ‘n donker hoek,

ek is vol vreugde, vol hoop, an open book.

Ek is jou skaamte wat die wêreld nie mag sien,

ek is skoonheid, sonskyn, a coloured queen.

Ek is geel, pienk en selfs bruin,

ek is kleurling, unashamed.

Ek dra my etnisiteit soos ‘n dompas,

in ‘n kleurvolle wêreld is coloured pride mos just!

Ek is meer as net pienk, bruin of geel,

ek is ‘n hele mengelmoes.

Ek is vrou en kind,

vol ambisie en prag wat trots vlieg bo die wind.

Ek is meer as my taal,

meer as my velkleur,

meer as die stereotypes wat dreig om my vermoë te beperk,

hierdie meisie kan nog vlieg met ‘n gebroke vlerk.

Ek is wat ek is,

en as ek besluit om te bly soos ek is,

dan is dit my business!

Ek is elegant, decadent,

trotse kleurling ma, vrou en kind.
