You by my side

like the moon lighting up the darkest of nights

Your voice was as soothing as the breath of winter

Your giggles were the most euphoric melody I had ever heard

Your smile was all that I craved to see,

It never failed to enrapture me

The grace in every breath you take,

Had me down to my knees like an artist touched by the greatest masterpiece

The whole world turned vague when I'd look at you,

it was all that I needed to rid myself of any blue

I wondered if you'd ever see me the way I had seen you,

if you'd think of me the way I did of you,

If we could ever be more than friends

Afraid of how you would look at me if you ever knew

rather push you away than find out

I shut out the light that was in the form of you

Rarely I reminisce the rays that would shine

a transient beauty in my life

I knew for a fact; you could never be mine

Like the moonlight taking its leave at the break of dawn

Before I had known you were gone

the light and the darkness could never be one

for the presence of one shuns the other

You felt everything I felt for you

but it was all for another
