Dream

Alone I stand at the edge of a cliff,

I take a step forward, hoping to fall.

Although I have second thoughts, am scared stiff,

Enough is enough, no one ever hears me when I call.

Now I take a deep breath,

Close my eyes, take the plunge,

Wind whipping my face, nothing here is a threat.

I open my eyes and see death, ready to lunge.

I wake up now, it was all a dream,

Still I awake with a smile, not a scream.

I reach out for a bottle of many a sleeping pill,

Shove them all in my mouth and lay still.
