Don’t apologize

It’s as simple as counting to 3

Because what do you mean you don’t get

that the words you said left me broken and alone

Because of you I had to learn how to breathe again

Do you feel any guilt?

for lying straight to my face

saying you’d change

but the only thing different

are the words you used

I don’t want to blame you for the things you don’t remember

Maybe I’m just jealous

how come you get to forget the things you said

while they haunt me every time I go to bed

Your apologies are my drug

the hope tastes better than any nicotine,

taking it in each time

and holding on tight

just to leave me falling back down again

Another empty promise to solace me

I hate it but still take it

because what else am I to do?

I can’t just act like I don’t want anything to do with you

Believe me when I say I’ve tried

but not even a silent treatment can fix our broken parts

In Japan they see beauty in the broken,

And use gold to mold the pieces back together,

making it more beautiful than ever

But if it truly takes gold to fix the things we couldn’t mend

I’d rather spend the rest of my life in debt
