Dews Of Elation

By Sriharshetha AS

A baby to cry is the sign of welcome to the Earth;

The babble he makes, stands tolerance and when

The tiny little feet progresses and slips again,

He stands gripping his feet for yet another try.

Isn’t life so beautiful?

When Papa drives him to playschool at nine,

Mama has a reminiscent over the past annals.

At noon Mama never misses to run an’ hug him

Walking back, a lil’ index finger inside her palm,

She embedded mere stories through his ear.

Isn’t life so beautiful?

Soon marks on the height chart seemed drastic,

And Papa had to pull up his socks high while Mama

Impels his least favourite in his mouth as he whines.

While he’s away, all that Mama had to do, was to adorn

The tiny cottage, yet lively cottage of theirs; just to

Make sense out of the smallest things which divulges joy.

Isn’t life so beautiful?

At the tick of four p.m., the doors open with a screeching

Sound of “I’m back and hungryyy” as Mama has a laugh.

She’s all ears to the day’s drama while she spoon-feeds love,

And very percipient in the answers of that day’s homework.

When Papa removes his shoes at ten, he’s already asleep but,

Papa’s words for their boy’s meal made Mama’s lips to reach

The very edge of her cheek just when she lends him a plate.

Isn’t life so beautiful?

Time changes, seasons change an’ so does the phases of a man.

He steps into college with a HSC, a prime step towards career,

Along with a fair and matured face (maybe a little handsome).

Mischievous acts (ten and counting); A text beneath the desk;

Canteen coffee for a group study and chill hangout at hostel nights;

Isn’t life so beautiful?

As logins in matrimonial sites sets a hike, he’s been fixed a bride.

Jamun dark silk hair, thin pair of bows, two lustrous eyes shines bright,

An artistic nose which seems as drawn and cherry red glossy lips.

Before the date got fixed, he rooted her far too deep inside his heart.

Started with checking his face twice in the dusty mirror of his,

Till asking to romantic late night dates for little coffee an’ more love.

Isn’t life so beautiful?

Soon the noise of marriage faded and his life’s routine expected a twist,

But he and she glorified every small step in their big ladder which awaited.

A perfect an’ mutual balance of work, love and family seemed ordinary to

The two which now became three. Seeing their baby come alive is heaven;

And that’s not so simple to describe and confine with a bunch of alphabets.

Although, in the happy ending when this venture turns out to be endless;

Isn’t life so beautiful?
