Destiny Of A Rose
By Yaso Manaswini
A little bud growing in a corner of the garden
Inconspicuous from the prying eyes of envy,
Amidst the thorns that would soon harden,
It stood bashful, as though seeking pardon.
As time flew, its beauty wasn't contained
Attention sought it from distant views.
Veils failed, whether the sun shined or rained
Its scarlet blush couldn't now be restrained.
Gaining the touches of a lost poet, it thrived
Perfuming pages with a new found warmth
Until one day, it saw words no longer strived,
And pages no longer inked when it arrived.
No more could it perfume, nor could it blush
Its spirit slowly dying as it turned to dust
Memories of a scarlet story with beauty lush
Only remain in the pages that are now hush
