Desire

By Moumita Kundu

Not now, not ever,

It’s final – never.

Don’t try to act clever.

Disguise it as a part of endeavour

At the heart of it lies,

A desire to touch the skies.

Though time passes by,

And death comes nigh,

We are still so sure

That we can endure…

No matter what may befall,

To be there at the beck and call,

Take refuge in the shady bower,

Enjoy ourselves to the last hour,

Make a whisper that’s careless ,

Not burden it with cess;

I know I have lost the chance;

The music is over, not my dance………
