Deep Inside His Heart

By Soniya Murhe

He searched for his true self in every possible corner

He walked down lost roads and climbed unknown mountains

He swam across the oceans and traveled across the world

Only when he finally came home, he felt a tug at his heart

A ray of light beckoned him, and he followed...

He walked through the doors of his old room to his cupboard covered in dust

As he walked closer, the light grew brighter

He opened the door and down fell a box

Inside was a picture of him with his favorite toy

Smiling at the camera, his face full of innocence and joy...

As he stared at the picture, he found everything he had been looking for

The picture showed him love, happiness, and beauty in their most sincere form, as though a glassed window to the past...

He might be an adult scarred by the harsh realities of the world

Afraid to hope, love, and trust

But deep inside his heart, the little kid told him that he must

For someday, good will outweigh bad, love will outweigh hatred, and peace will win over war…
