Deaths And Hearts
By Suman Behera
We left each other
In the middle of nowhere
I could not even figure out
If it was mutual
Or the bridge that was meant
To take us somewhere
We forcefully did smother.
Two strangers
Sharing the same story
What could be more of a cliché?
Let us change it to something
That sane poetry endangers.
Like “Killing the love we felt for each other;
In a manner so gory.”
We ended up,
walking on different roads
But the ghosts of past,
Slit the throats of the living of the present
and drank their blood from a cup.
Death of this love was so slow and distant,
It put all the brutality of the words to a contrast.
