Death is rude
Death is rude
He comes into a room
no pleasantries, no regards.
he grabs a seat in your space, uninvited.
Laser focus on his victim,
yet scanning the room
with scornful empathy
at the smell of hope
From the foolish humans praying to deter him.
Death is rude
Sometimes he arrives days ahead,
makes himself comfortable,
waiting for his orders,
scanning the room and saying to himself
‘Who will be next, am I to return tomorrow or in ten years?’
Death is rude
he sees you clutching to life,
yet yanks your hands off
no regard,
no compassion
no hard feelings he says it is merely a debt.
